Track The Movement Winter 2021

Community Living Ontario is excited to launch three new Community Change Projects! The change projects are led by youth leaders with support from their adult allies and give young people the opportunity to turn their ideas into action. Youth are in charge of coming up with innovative ideas that empower young voices in their community, promote what it means to be Canadian and support the authentic inclusion of individuals with or without an intellectual disability. This opportunity has been made possible through the generous support of Heritage Canada through its Youth Take Charge program.

This month, we are happy to announce the launch of these three incredible projects that are working with the movement to build stronger and connected communities. The teams working on some ground-breaking ideas are:

“Artful Expressions of an Inclusive Community” supported by Fusion4Inclusion

  • This project empowers youth with and without a disability to share their vision for an inclusive Canada through the medium of art. The project is focused around the planning and execution of a youth-led art exhibit in the Haldimand, Norfolk and Six Nations communities.

“Voices of Tomorrow” supported by Community Living Essex County, Community Living Windsor:

  • This project focuses on inclusive hiring of ALL youth by empowering youth to lead conversations with employers and community members on what youth need to benefit from and thrive in the Canadian workforce.

“Youth Musician Commission”, Supported by Roy Thompson and Massey Hall

  • Through the medium of music, as a tool to build an inclusive Canada, this project provides more opportunities for aspiring musicians of all abilities to share their contributions to the Canadian music scene.

Watch out for their remarkable activities ahead! We are proud of our change project teams for exercising their leadership during a global crisis and to continue building momentum for an inclusive Canada.
